Lekker — Privacy Policy

Lekker ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application that lets you log and share ratings of food and drinks with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your phone number, display name, and username. You may optionally add a profile photo.
Ratings and content. We store the food and drink ratings you log, including item names, restaurant or venue information, your score, notes, and any photos you attach.
Location data. With your permission, we access your approximate location to surface nearby restaurants and to show your activity to friends who follow you. Location is used in real time and is not stored as a persistent history.
Usage data. We collect standard app usage information (crash reports, feature interactions) to improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.
Device information. We collect your device type and OS version for diagnostic purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you via one-time SMS passcode (OTP)
- To display your profile and ratings to friends you have connected with
- To power the friends feed and nearby activity features
- To search for and resolve restaurants and food items
- To send you transactional push notifications (e.g. when a friend logs a rating nearby)
- To diagnose bugs and improve app performance
We do not use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.
3. SMS / Text Messaging
We send SMS messages only for account authentication (one-time passcodes). We do not send promotional or marketing text messages. One SMS is sent per login or account creation event. Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan.
To stop receiving SMS messages, reply STOP to any message we send. To request help, reply HELP. You can also contact us at hello@joinlekker.com.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- With friends you connect with — your ratings and profile are visible to mutual friends in the app.
- Service providers — we use Supabase for database and authentication infrastructure, Google Places API for restaurant data, and Open Food Facts for product data. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and ratings for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account, which permanently removes your profile, ratings, and associated data.
6. Children's Privacy
Lekker is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS) and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@joinlekker.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app or via email. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
